Silic Self-Cleaning Shirt

Silic Self-Cleaning Shirt
Dec-19-13
The Silic hydrophobic shirt will repel just about any liquid while still remaining comfortable and stylish—and carcinogenic-free.

Already surpassing its funding on Kickstarter, the Silic shirt was inspired by the NeverWet and Ultra Ever Dry sprays of recent note. However, the sprays are not really meant to be used on clothes worn next to the skin, and they can make fabrics stiff and uncomfortable. The Silic shirt, created by 20-year old Aamir Patel, is made of fabric layered with billions of silica particles, which form a microscopic layer of air between the liquid and the fabric. This causes water-based liquids to from a 150 degree sphere and roll off the shirt rather than being absorbed.

The shirt is also fully washable and will retain its hydrophobic properties for up to 80 wash cycles.
