SiSpis Robot Spiders Could 3D Print a Car

SiSpis Robot Spiders Could 3D Print a Car
Apr-28-16
The SiSpis 3D-printing robot spiders from Siemens work in teams to build structures as large as cars and airplanes.

The prototype robots, called SiSpis, are able to communicate autonomously with each other, breaking down the CAD into portions and then using lasers to scan the environment and determine where to build. The bots are equipped with a seventh “augmented leg” that handles the printing materials, and robots low on battery life will automatically leave the group to go charge up, while another bot takes its place. By working together, the SiSpis are able to work continuously to build structures larger than themselves.
