The Smarter Balance System could help people suffering from Parkinson’s disease stay on their feet.
Developed by a team from the University of Houston, the system is made up of belt outfitted with vibrating actuators, which map the wearer’s motions in real time to provide instant feedback. The information is sent to a paired smartphone, where the user can both view their movement data as well as receive personalized exercises to improve postural stability.
