SmokeBeat App Tracks Motion to Help Smokers Stop

SmokeBeat App Tracks Motion to Help Smokers Stop
Jan-04-18
The SmokeBeat app communicates with a smartwatch to help smokers kick the habit.

Taking advantage of the rising popularity of smartwatches, the SmokeBeat app tracks the motions of the wearer’s hand to their mouth. The app is able to tell identify the gestures associated with smoking (rather than shaving or eating), and will also send a message to the user to confirm if they are smoking.

The collected data is used to help the aspiring quitter track how often they smoked per day, and allow them to set personal goals based on parameters such as financial cost, times per day smoked, or changes in habit over time.
