Solar Cells Harvest Moonlight Energy

Sep-20-12 Soon our moonlight dancing may be lit by lunar power, thanks to the new spherical glass solar energy generator able to concentrate moonlight to harness a steady stream of power.

Designed by a team at the Barcelona-based Rawlemon, the ß.torics system is 35 percent more efficient than conventional dual-axis photovoltaic devices, and features a fully rotational sphere able to concentrate diffused moonlight, as well as sunlight, up to 10,000 times. This allows different technologies to be used with the system, including concentrated solar power with photovoltaic panels or thermal applications.

The system was originally designed to be embedded in the walls of buildings where it can function as both a window and a generator.
