The window-mounted, noise cancelling Sono device filters out unpleasant sounds while allowing you to choose the type you’d like to hear.
The prototype device works very similarly to noise cancelling headphones. A microphone in the center of the Sono picks up the incoming sounds, and then sends out sounds with the same frequency and wavelength but 180 degrees out of phase, cancelling the sound before it reaches the window. It is powered by an “energy antenna” that harvests electromagnetic activity for power to supplement its internal battery.
The Sono also allows the user to choose which sounds they would like to be able to hear by differentiating between a wide range of frequencies and neutralizing specific ones.
