Sprayable Sensors Float in Liquid and Air

Sprayable Sensors Float in Liquid and Air
Jul-24-18
MIT researchers have created sprayable robots that could travel in liquid and air.

The tiny robots, about the size of a human egg cell, are made up electronic circuits built onto colloids—insoluble molecules small enough to remain suspended in liquid or air. The team then converted the robots to a sprayable form that could be sent down narrow chamber or into tight spaces. According to the group, the aerosol sensors could have a range of applications, from traveling pipes looking for leaks to moving through the human body to diagnose problems.
