Designed as an alternative to cloud-based computing, the StormFly lets you carry an entire operating system on your wrist.
Created by Now Computing, the 16 GB device features an open source operating system bootable on most modern PCs and Macs. This allows the user to move their operating system and data between computers for immediate access via the speedy 3.0 USB. The device is activated by plugging it in and interrupting the computer’s boot process to redirect the hardware to StormFly.
Because StormFly functions as an independent computer, it helps prevent careless users of a shared device from downloading things that could harm the main computer. The developers believe it could be particularly useful in schools, where many students share the same computers.
