StorySign App Turns Text to Sign Language

StorySign App Turns Text to Sign Language
Dec-11-18
The StorySign app helps deaf children learn to read by converting the text in children’s books to sign language.

Clearly, reading a book to a deaf child can be difficult for a hearing parent. To help promote the love of reading in all children, the StorySign app developed by the team at Huawei features an avatar that will sign the words of the story as they are highlighted—helping the child recognize the connection between the words and signs. The StorySign app is available in ten languages and is compatible with particular Penguin Random House books, though the team hopes to increase the number of languages if the app proves popular.
