Submersible Fathom Drone Aimed at Consumers

Aug-20-15 The submersible Fathom drone takes personal drones to new levels, allowing users to explore beneath the water while controlling the drone with a smartphone app.

Although underwater drones have been in use for some time, the Fathom drone is the first that is affordable enough for the average consumer. Inspired by the co-creator’s own desire to explore Lake Michigan’s fabled shipwrecks, the Fathom’s propulsion systems are based on the reaction controls used on spacecraft, which allows for precise steering control. The Fathom is still in the prototype phase, with more development details pending.
