Superomniphobic Tape Repels Liquids

Superomniphobic Tape Repels Liquids
Oct-22-16
A new liquid repellent tape from Colorado State University can give any surface “superomniphobic” properties.

The tape is made up of a layer of fluorinated silica particles coated on top of a of flexible, adhesive-backed polyurethane. The structure and low solid surface energy of the silica layer prevents liquid from seeping between the particles and causes it to roll off the surface. The tape can be applied to all types of surfaces, and the team is currently working to make it more durable.
