SwagBot is the First Livestock Monitoring Robot

SwagBot is the First Livestock Monitoring Robot
Aug-09-16
The SwagBot robotic cowboy joins the ranks of robotic farm helpers, helping to herd cows and tow trailers over rough terrain.

Created by Australian engineers, the SwagBot is specifically designed to help tend to the cattle herds in the vast Northern Territory of Australia. The bot, which has just begun its two-year trial period, is able to traverse extremely rugged terrain, including swamps and logs, in order to reach difficult to access areas.

As the SwagBot evolves, the team plans to equip it with sensors that allow it to identify sick or injured animals (via gait or body temperature) as well as sensors able to determine the health of grazing areas.
