Swarming Drones with Thought Control

Swarming Drones with Thought Control
Aug-01-16
Researchers from Arizona State have developed a cap that lets users control a drone with their thoughts.

The cap is equipped with 128 electrodes that monitor the wearer’s brain activity to translate thoughts into commands to the drone. The key advantage of the thought control is that it allows the user to control multiple robots at once, some of them flying, with their thoughts—which is not possible with a joystick.

The system is still being refined, and the team’s next step is to allow multiple people to control multiple robots in a much larger space, with the goal of one day controlling swarms of drones.
