The Symbioz snowshoes may be the world’s first “barefoot” snowshoe, adapting to the user for a more comfortable fit.
Manufactured by the French company TSL Outdoor, the composite shoes are designed to be lighter and more flexible than conventional snowshoes, making use of the company’s Hyperflex frame technology. The frame and binding flex across the length of the shoe, providing extra movement for a more natural gait. An array of spikes on the shoes’ bottoms adds stability on ice, and the spikes flex as well for extra contact on uneven surfaces.
The shoes should be available by winter.
