Send your far-flung friend a reassuring touch with the Tactilu bracelet, a wrist-worn device for remote tactile communication.
Developed by the panGenerator collective, the Tactilu is the result of a remote haptic/tactile communication project. Worn like a bracelet, the device consists of one element for sending data and one for receiving. The touch sensor on the upper surface of the device will translate swipes into haptic motion on the receiving device. It is powered by an Arduino Pro mini microcontroller and works with a smartphone to communicate via Bluetooth and internet connection.
The Tactilu is currently in its early version, and the team expects the later version to be about 50 percent slimmer with a textile strip made of casted polyurethane.
