More than a sleep monitor, the wearable Thim device trains the user to get better sleep.
Developed by Professor Leon Lack, the Thim trains the user to fall asleep faster by waking them so they can practice falling back asleep. The Thim is worn on the finger, where it can detect when the user has fallen asleep. After about three minutes of sleep, the Thim wakes the wearer, who then falls asleep—and is woken—again. This sleep “re-training” pattern can be set for any length of time, though the team recommends an hour to start with, and will teach the user the fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
