Third Thumb Extends Abilities

Third Thumb Extends Abilities
Jul-08-17
The wearable Third Thumb from student Dani Clode gives hands an extra digit.

A student at the Royal Academy of Art, Dani Clode designed the Third Thumb as a way to explore how prosthetics can enhance natural abilities. The 3D-printed thumb attaches to the hand, where it is controlled by Bluetooth signals sent from pressure sensors beneath the feet. A wrist-worn motor powers the digit, allowing the wearer to manipulate the prosthetic as a natural extension of their own fingers.
