ThothX Inflatable Space Elevator

ThothX Inflatable Space Elevator
Aug-18-15
Conceived to reduce the fuel costs of space travel, the ThothX Tower design would deliver astronauts to their “space planes” via a twelve-mile elevator.

The idea of space elevators is not new, but the technology has been limited by the lack of appropriate materials. The Thoth design, developed and patented by Bendan Quine, would consist of individual inflatable segments that are held upright by an arrangement of flywheels. Pressurized cargo cars would transport cargo to the top of the tower, where a runway would provide a launching point for spacecraft, allowing them to take off directly into orbit and even return to the tower for refueling.
