Tooth Patch Monitors Diet

Tooth Patch Monitors Diet
Mar-23-18
A tooth-mounted sensor able to monitor the wearer’s diet could help provide more data about diet and health.

Developed by the team from Tufts University, the tiny sensor attaches to the front of the tooth, where it monitors glucose, salt and alcohol via a bioresponsive material that absorbs the key chemicals. The data is transmitted to a paired device in the form of radio waves that are interpreted by an app to determine the levels of target chemicals consumed.

The team believes the technology could be adapted to detect other types of chemicals, opening the door to a range of applications.
