Touch-Free Haptic Technology Relies on Ultrasound

Touch-Free Haptic Technology Relies on Ultrasound
Sep-17-16
A new haptic technology from Ultrahaptics can provide tactile feedback without the need for physical contact or a wearable device.

Whereas most haptic systems require the user to wear a physical device or touch a surface, the system from Ultrahaptics relies instead on ultrasound emitters and complex algorithms to produce the sensation of touch. The team believes the technology could have applications in safety systems on vehicles, as well as in the gaming and appliance industries.
