Toyota’s Project Blaid Offers Navigational Neckpiece
Mar-09-16
The wearable neckpiece from Toyota’s Project Blaid is designed to augment the navigation tools already used by the visually impaired.

Developed primarily for navigation inside buildings, the neckpiece is equipped with cameras able to recognize common indoor features, such as stairs, elevators or doors. Information about the objects is communicated to the user via vibrations or speaker, and the wearer can also request specific information with a voice command or button controls.

Toyota is currently working to add to the library of recognized objects, and plans to add mapping, facial recognition and object identification to the device’s abilities.
