An innovative new ultrasonic dryer dries clothing faster and with less energy than conventional devices.
Developed by a team at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the dryer concept is based on an earlier, smaller prototype. With help from the US Department of Energy and General Electric, Oak Ridge went on to develop a full-size prototype version, which uses vibrations instead of heat to dry clothing. This non-heat method not only saves energy, but also dries the clothes in about half the time.
