Urban Canary Raises Pollution Awareness

Aug-09-17 The Urban Canary offers a fun—and educational—way for children to track air pollution.

The cute Urban Canary is designed to be carried by the child as they go through their day, where it will continuously measure the air quality in the child’s environment. As the Canary is exposed to the same air as the child, it will measure the pollutant density and even become ‘sick’ if the levels are too high. Once this occurs, the child and parents can access the Urban Canary app and explore what made the Canary ‘sick,’ and how to heal it.

The team hopes the little device could help open a dialogue between parents and their children about pollution and its effects.
