UV-Activated Labels Keep Information Private

UV-Activated Labels Keep Information Private
Feb-06-19
Package labels made up of luminescent molecules could offer a way to keep sensitive information secret.

A team from the Dresden University of Technology created the labels by using ultraviolet light to ‘write’ on pieces of foil containing luminescent molecules. Exposing these molecules to UV light will trigger them to glow when exposed to the light again—allowing the information to be read. The labels can also be completely erased by exposure to UV light of about a minute, and reused up to forty times.
