The Velodroom smart bicycle light switches on automatically and signals when the rider is braking.
Currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, the water-resistant device detects the bike’s motion via a built-in accelerometer, which triggers it to turn on automatically at the beginning of the ride and switch off after one minute of non-movement. The accelerometer can also detect a sudden deceleration, prompting the light to shine even brighter while braking.
For increased efficiency, a light sensor enables the device to adjust the brightness of the light according to the ambient light levels, saving battery life.
