VERSE Helps Visually Impaired Navigate the Web

VERSE Helps Visually Impaired Navigate the Web
Sep-09-19
The VERSE tool helps the visually impaired navigate the web by adding screen-reading capabilities to virtual assistants.

The VERSE (Voice Exploration, Retrieval and Search) tool was developed by a team from the University of Waterloo in cooperation with Microsoft and the University of Washington to provide audio assistance to individuals with visual impairments. The system works with virtual assistances to improve their ability to engage more deeply with the content on the screen, such as providing greater access to search verticals like news or other search results.
