Vine-Like Electronic Skin

Aug-24-17 Researchers have developed an electronic skin able to monitor vitals at a high accuracy, offering a new source of at-home health monitoring.

Developed by an international team, the adhesive patch features a network of three–dimensional wire coils that have been embedded in soft silicone. The 3D makeup of the coils offers maximum flexibility, while their unique spider web pattern ensures “uniform and extreme levels” of elasticity in all directions. The arrangement also allows the components to be packed more tightly, and the gathered data can be sent wirelessly to a paired smartphone.
