Virtual Retinal Display Glasses Need No LCDs

Virtual Retinal Display Glasses Need No LCDs
Oct-15-13
The Virtual Retinal Display from Avegant does away with LCD screens, and instead projects images directly onto the retinas of the viewer.

The prototype device features an advanced micro-mirror array able to beam two separate images at each eye. The images are generated with reflected light instead of emitted light, which allows them to more accurately represent the actual world and eliminates the ‘screen door effect’ that occurs when LCDs are place too close to the eye. The glasses are fully adjustable as well, which idealizes the alignment and focusing and makes them more comfortable to wear.
