Vision-Boosting eSight System

Vision-Boosting eSight System
Oct-24-13
The eSight system is an electronic “seeing aid,” allowing the legally blind to see by projecting a video image that has been enhanced to compensate for the wearer’s particular vision problem.

The system includes a frame that contains the user’s prescription lenses overlaid with a headset containing an HD video camera and a pair of LCD screens. The device can be controlled by a handheld unit, which allows the user to adjust the contrast, focus and brightness as well as zoom in or capture still frames. Live footage of the field in front of the user is sent by the camera to the controller, where it is enhanced to suit the user's needs and displayed on both video screens in real time.

According to the developers, the eSight system is recommended for people with visual acuity between 20/60 and 20/400.
