The new VIVIA hemodialysis system from Baxter International has recently received CE approval, offering a new level of convenience to dialysis patients by delivering High Dose HD therapy in the home environment.
The VIVIA system was designed for home use with the patient as the primary operator. It features a touch screen and graphic user interface with easy-to-understand graphics that guide the patient through setup, treatment and cleanup. The Access Disconnect Sensor will trigger the system to cease pumping if the needle is dislodges, and the single button fluid infusion will help reduce the chances of user error.
Currently only about one percent of hemodialysis patients are able to take advantage of in-home High Dose HD therapy, which can be performed while sleeping or in short, daily sessions.
