Vocktail Glass Mixes Drinks with an App

Vocktail Glass Mixes Drinks with an App
Nov-07-17
The Vocktail glass uses LEDs, electrodes and gases to change the user’s perception of what they are drinking.

Designed by a team at the University of Singapore led by Nimesha Ranasinghe, the Vocktail glass tricks the user’s sense of sight, taste and smell to create drinks that appear to taste different. LED lights in the glass change the color of the drink, while electrodes embedded in the rim stimulate the tongue to perceive different tastes, such as sweet, sour and salty. The Vocktail also builds on Ranasinghe’s previous work in the field by including a small tube in the side of the glass that will release gases of different scents, further enhancing the perceived taste.
