The Vortex Bladeless wind turbines harness wind energy through vibrations, offering a safer and affordable alternative to conventional bladed versions.
The Vortex bladeless turbines require fewer parts than standard wind turbines, and so are less expensive to manufacture and transport. The turbines feature a tall mast designed to oscillate in the wind and drive a series of magnets located at the base. As these magnets move in response to the mast’s motions, they generate electricity.
Although the bladeless turbine is not as efficient as its counterparts, the development team believes its lower manufacturing cost (40 percent the cost of standard turbines) makes up the difference.
