Walmart Sound System Tracks Service by Sound

Walmart Sound System Tracks Service by Sound
Dec-24-18
A new system from Walmart aims to monitor the behavior of employees and staff by listening to every sound in the store.

The patented system would listen to the store’s sounds, such as cash register beeps or shopping bags rustling. Using this information, the system can then determine specifics such as the amount of time customers are waiting in line or number of bags used per transaction. The system could also listen to customer and employees’ conversations, identifying the products customers are discussing or ensuring whether employees are greeting guests properly.

Listening customers might also unveil aims to shoplifting. Aviation already bans all hazardous chat and joking during flights, so perhaps that will be filtered also in other transport and terminals.
