Waste Eggshells Lead to Better Batteries

Waste Eggshells Lead to Better Batteries
Mar-15-19
Discarded eggshells could offer a new source of environmentally-friendly energy storage.

Eggshells contain large amounts of calcium carbonite, which can store lithium. Which that in mind, the team from KIT created an electrode using waste eggshells, which they used against a metallic lithium anode within a non-aqueous solution. In tests, the new battery maintained a capacity retention of 92 percent after more than 1000 charge and recharge cycles.
