Water Mask Dispenser Helps Prevent Suffocation

Water Mask Dispenser Helps Prevent Suffocation
Sep-12-18
The innovative Water Mask dispenser helps prevent suffocation during emergencies by dispensing pre-wetted gas-blocking masks.

While most fire drills recommend people cover their mouths and nose with a wet towel, which is 2.5 times more efficient than dry cloth at blocking gases, finding water in such situations can be difficult. To increase the survival rates of disaster victims, a student team from Kookmin University created the Water Mask Dispenser. The dispenser would attach to a wall, where a single pull on the door will both wet the mask and dispense it in a single motion—offering much more protection against dangerous gases than a sleeve or handkerchief alone.
