WaterBean Purifies Tap Water, Saves Bottles

WaterBean Purifies Tap Water, Saves Bottles
Jul-31-13
Designed to help reduce plastic bottle waste, the WaterBean will purify tap water—encouraging water worriers to reuse the same plastic bottle for a longer time.

The WaterBean contracts and expands to fit inside almost any water bottle, and its exchangeable filters remain active for up to three months (or 140 liters of water). The filters are made from non-toxic, activated coconut carbon, which the developers claim will remove chlorine odors and off tastes while also adding magnesium to the water. To use, simply drop the device inside the water bottle, then shake and swirl.

While the WaterBean will not purify dirty water, it will help to improve the taste and odor of tap water, with one filter potentially saving 280 plastic bottles from landfills. The developers are currently seeking funding for their project on Indiegogo.
