Wearable Detects Lung Cancer

Wearable Detects Lung Cancer
Sep-14-17
A new wearable could help detect lung cancer early, leading to faster treatment.

The system, from a team at the University of Buffalo, relies on an implant just beneath the skin that will react to lung cancer biomarkers in the blood. The changes in the implant are detected by a wearable sitting just above it, with the collected data sent to a paired device via Bluetooth.

Although still in the development phase, the team hopes that if successful, the device could also be altered to detect other types of cancer.
