Welle Uses Sonar to Detect Gestures

Welle Uses Sonar to Detect Gestures
Apr-02-17
The Welle device from Maxus Tech uses sonar to transform surfaces into gesture controlled interfaces.

The Welle is equipped with the same sonar technology used in self-driving cars. Once placed in a centralized location, the Welle will detect movement in the environment and translate the motions into commands. Using Bluetooth, the system will then communicate the command to the designated smart device, including doors, speakers, or cameras.

According to the team, the ultrasound technology allows for longer range, lower energy use, and is not affected by the lighting in the room.
