The WeWALK smart cane invention communicates with Google Maps to provide more detailed and useful navigation information.
The WeWALK smart cane was created by Kursat Ceylon, who is blind himself and the CEO of the Young Guru Academy—the company behind the cane’s design. The WeWALK system is contained within a handle that fits on a normal ‘analog’ cane, and features speakers as well as sensitive sensors that trigger vibrations to warn of obstacles over chest height. The cane will communicate with a paired smartphone via Bluetooth, accessing Google Maps and a voice assistant to provide directions and information about stores, landmarks, or other important details.
