Wireless Pill can Target Drug Delivery
Feb-15-20
Veloce Digital Health is developing an ingestible smart pill called SmartTab that can be wirelessly controlled by a smartphone to release its contents at precise locations.

The capsule is powered by inductive charging and when swallowed, is tracked electronically using a small adhesive patch worn on the skin near the target area. When the capsule reaches the target area the contents can be automatically released or manually controlled by the patient via a phone app.

The company has focused on medications for Crohn's disease as it's first offering stating that they hope to improve patient outcomes by being able to deliver drugs to only the section of the GI tract that is affected by the condition.
