WombOX Measures Fetal Blood Oxygen

WombOX Measures Fetal Blood Oxygen
May-11-16
The WombOX fetal pulse oximeter can be attached to a baby in the womb during fetal surgery, offering an additional safeguard during the procedure.

Still in the prototype phase, the WombOX features a nitinol wire loop compressed inside the delivery sheath that will expand when exposed to body heat. The loop wraps around the limb of the fetus, where it will tighten in place and sense the infant’s blood oxygen levels with its embedded LEDs. The loop can be removed after the procedure by retracting back inside the sheath.
