Wristify Wristband Keeps Body Temperature Comfortable

Wristify Wristband Keeps Body Temperature Comfortable
Oct-18-13
The Wristify thermoelectric bracelet helps the wearer maintain a comfortable temperature without the need for extra layers or air conditioning.

Based on the knowledge that heating or cooling certain parts of the body can have an overall effect, the prototype device sends pulses of hot or cold waveforms to the wrist to help keep the wearer at a comfortable thermal level. A team from MIT created the device using a custom copper-alloy-based heat sink with an attached automated control system. The control system manages the thermal pulses delivery while built-in thermometers monitor the air and skin temperature, enabling the device to adjust as needed.

The Wristify won first prize at this year’s Making And Designing Materials Engineering Competition (MADMEC) at MIT.
