Zera Food Recycler Turns Food Scraps to Soil

Zera Food Recycler Turns Food Scraps to Soil
Jan-23-17
Designed for use in the kitchen, the Zera Food Recycler turns food scraps into fertilizer within 24 hours.

Developed by Whirlpool’s WLabs to fit into the kitchen décor, the Zera automatically recycles food scraps—including meat—within 24 hours. The process works with the help of a “Zera Additive” made of coconut husk fiber and baking soda, which is placed in the main bin at the beginning of each cycle. When the bin is full, the scraps are automatically chopped, aerated and heated, resulting in nutrient-rich soil that can be added directly to the garden.
