Methods and Apparatuses Relating to Cell Culture Media

A method of preparing cell culture media for use in culturing cells and an apparatus for carrying out the method. The method includes providing a vessel containing cell culture media and exposing the cell culture media to a first controlled atmosphere having a predetermined O2 concentration that is less than an external atmospheric O2 concentration, to reduce the O2 concentration in the cell culture media before culturing cells in the cell culture media. The cell culture media may be agitated during exposure to the first controlled atmosphere. The temperature and/or pressure of the first controlled atmosphere may be controlled. Also provided is cell culture media which has been prepared by the method, and also a method of culturing cells in cell culture media prepared by the method.
