Method for Synchronising Video Streams

The invention relates to method or synchronising at least two video streams from at least two cameras having a common field of vision. The synchronisation method includes at least the following steps: acquiring (81) the video streams and storing the images constituting each video stream on a video storage medium; rectifying (83) images of the video streams based on epipolar lines; for each epipolar line of the video streams: extracting (84) an epipolar line in each rectified image of each video stream; for each video stream, the set of extracted epipolar lines of each rectified image defining an image of a time epipolar line; for each epipolar line of the video streams: calculating a time shifting value d between the video streams by matching the images of a time epipolar line of each video stream ; calculating (85) a time offset value Dt between the video streams while taking into account the time shifting values d calculated for each epipolar line of the video streams ; synchronising (86) the video streams while taking into account the calculated time offset value Dt. The synchronisation of video streams is particularly useful for analysing the video streams from a plurality of different cameras filming e.g. the same scene at different viewing angles.
