Hot Forming with Inlay Material

The invention relates to a method for hot forming a blank made of an aluminum or steel alloy, wherein the blank is heated before the forming process and is then formed at a temperature of at least 150 DEG C in a forming tool, and to a device for hot forming comprising a forming tool, which has a punch and a die. The problem of proposing an economical method for hot forming blanks made of an aluminum or steel alloy, wherein a sufficiently high temperature during the duration of the forming process of the blank and a sufficiently quick cooling of the blank after the forming process has been ended are both ensured, is solved for the hot forming of an aluminum or steel blank in that before the forming process, an insulating material is arranged on at least one surface of the blank, wherein the insulating material has a lower thermal conductivity than the blank and the forming occurs with the applied insulating material.
