Blue light emmiting polythriphenylene dendrimers, methods of preparation and uses thereof

The present invention relates to novel blue light emitting polytriphenylene dendrimers, methods of preparation and uses thereof. The present polytriphenylene dendrimers comprise a core unit with linked diphenyltriphenylene repeating units of the following formula (1) The present invention further provides a method for preparing such dendrimers via a series of Diels-Alder cycloadditions reacting an alkinyl-functionalized compound with a diphenylcyclopentaphenanthrenone of formula (2) Also provided is a novel method for preparing the diphenylcyclopentaphenanthrenone of formula (2).
