Rapid Cell Block Embedding Method and Apparatus

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for rapidly embedding cells that utilizes a flow-through embedding technique. ; SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 includes a cell flow pathway 16 defined by an inflow tube 20 for delivering cell fragment from a cell sample 14 to a sample port 26. The sample port 26 communicates with a tissue cassette 30 with a filter 40 installed. The cell flow pathway 16 communicates with a reagent flow pathway 18 for delivering reagents 82, 92, 102 to the cassette 30 through the sample port 26. The apparatus 10 oriented so that the cell fragment may pass from a cell sample 14 to a cell flow pathway 16 and delivers the reagents 82, 92, 102 through the reagent flow pathway 18, by applying a pressure. The apparatus 10 produces a cell block with concentrated cells that is embedded near the flat surface of a block to be cut off by a rapid and an effective method. ; COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
