Method for the Depth Control of a Towfish

A method for the depth control of a towfish (6) examining the bottom (10) of a body of water, having a measuring boat (1), a magnetic floating body (3), which is towed by the measuring boat (1) at a certain distance, and a towfish (6) dependant on the floating body (3), wherein the profile of the bottom (10) determined by the measuring boat (3) is taken into consideration in the depth control of the towfish (6), characterized in that the depth of the towfish (6) is controlled via a first rope (5) connecting the towfish (6) to the measuring boat (1), the rope being guided via a pulley (4) arranged on the floating body (3), and a second rope (11) connecting the towfish (6) directly to the measuring boat (1) such that the towfish (6) floats perpendicular beneath the floating body (3).
