Nitro Fatty Acids As Regiomers and Related Mimetics

Mimetics of nitro linoleic acid are potent agonists of PPAR-?, a receptor that regulates adipocyte differentiation, glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. Thus, 10-LNO2 and 12-LN-NO2 are potent, selective activators of the PPAR-?, as are mimetics of LNO2 that bind in a manner similar to LNO2. High-resolution crystallographic data on the binding of LNO2 by PPAR-? thus inform the design of such mimetics.
